Day One

Thursday – November 20, 2025

1:00 – 6:00 pm Eastern Time Zone (Atlanta, New York)

MAA Circuit (Martial Arts Aquatics) (LAB) - Silvia Senati

Integrate the structured approach of circuit training with the unique elements of Aquacombat martial arts to create an engaging aquatic lesson suitable for all skill levels. This format allows students to confidently learn and refine new movements before progressing into full combinations. Gain valuable knowledge and teaching tips from Silvia’s experience and energetic leadership style.

Move Better with Intentional Breath (AWS) - Ruth Sova, MS

Breathing can affect our clients during exercise and in life. Explore popular breathing concepts to determine which is best for core strengthening, decreasing stress, increasing oxygen uptake, improving alignment, running faster, or just having more energy. Learn how to move better by pairing intentional breath with specific exercises and daily functional skills.

Diabetes & Aquatic Exercise (LEC) - Lori Sherlock, EdD & Renata Tarevnic, PhD

Delve into evidence-based aquatic training methodologies for participants with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. We’ll explore current methods including AMRAPs, EMOMs, timed sets, circuit training, and dual-task exercises. Learn how to effectively apply these techniques in the aquatic environment to optimize glycemic control, enhance functional capacity, and improve the overall well-being of individuals with diabetes.

Say It to Slay It with Effective Cueing (LAB) - Kelly Bullard, MS

Effective cueing in a class is more than just choosing the right words. It is a collaboration of giving and receiving feedback in the moment to offer the best way to communicate the message. It’s not necessarily what you say, as how you say it! Take away tips and techniques to better communicate and enhance participants’ training experiences in your next land or water class.

Return to Running Shallow and Deep (AWS) - Beth Scalone, PT, DPT, OCS

This course is designed for rehabilitation and fitness professionals who work with runners recovering from injury or looking to safely transition back to land-based running. Participants will learn how to design and implement effective aquatic therapy programs using both deep and shallow water exercises to support return-to-running goals. The course will cover progressive aquatic exercise strategies that mirror land-based biomechanics, while minimizing joint stress and promoting neuromuscular control.

JKL: Julie’s Kinetic Limbering Wind Down (LWS) - Julie See

Kinetic – the energy of motion.  Wind down Day 1 of BAFTC 2025 with fluid moves that allow your body to choose what it needs in the moment.  Go with the flow during this dynamic stretch session, leaving you feeling mentally relaxed and physically limber. Transfer the concept – and some of these land-based movements – into your next aquatic warm-up or cool-down.

Day Two

Friday – November 21, 2025

1:00 - 6:00 pm Eastern Time Zone (Atlanta, New York)

Splashy Themed Workouts (AWS) - Mark Grevelding

Just in time for the holidays, explore a simplified approach to designing themed templates that can be used for any special event or holiday. No costumes or corny games here, just high intensity dual-depth workouts that channel the music, moves, and mood of the theme. Mark’s programming concepts will inspire you to look at themed workouts with a new perspective.

Chore-Yo-Graphed Mind & Body Movements (LAB) = Cristina (Tinoca) Senra, MS

Your love for yoga and water exercise continues to flourish. Expand your class and session offerings by exploring choreographed yoga sequencing for warm-ups, cool-downs, cardio, strength, and of course, flexibility.  Experience structured movements that flow to enhance specific segments of your classes and body balanced training.  This Lab will give you a small taste of what’s launching at IAFTC 2026!

Move Freely – Restore Movement Quality (LEC)  - Javier Bergas, MS

What if “stiffness” is not a lack of flexibility, but a lack of opportunity to move without tension? Let’s explore the difference between flexibility and mobility, and how water can become the ultimate ally for restoring functional, controlled, and pain-free movement. Learn tools to create aquatic programs that improve real-life movement quality, reduce pain-related fear in ADLs and during exercise, and promote autonomy for participants. Focus on movement quality and everything else will follow.

Stimulating BrainPOWER for Balance (AWS) - Donna Boucher

Dive into a refreshing educational experience that goes beyond physical fitness with this workshop designed for both the general population and athletic training!  Showcase creative shallow water programming to challenge stability, coordination, and mental focus—along with high-energy athletic drills that foster teamwork, communication, and motivation.

The Keyes to Aquatic Hoops (AWS) - Evelyn Keyes, MS & Greg Keyes, PhD

The days of the Hula Hoops are not forgotten! This simple, yet affordable piece of equipment has multiple uses for teaching and enhancing aquatic therapy and fitness movements.  Explore some options to stimulate your aquatic exercise classes with a variety of techniques designed for the general and senior participant.  Additionally, anyone who enjoys HIIT or higher intensity workouts will love the addition of hoops into their classes.

ABC: Ashley’s Ball & Chair Wind Down (LMC) - Ashley Bishop

Take 30 minutes to reset your body and mind with this gentle follow-along session. Using simple myofascial release techniques with a ball, you’ll ease tension and improve mobility before transitioning into accessible chair-based stretches. Perfect as a restorative break or a calming close to a busy day, this session is designed for all levels—no experience required.
