Correcting Biomechanics in Gait

Thursday, April 24, 2025 with Ruth Sova

2:00 - 3:30 pm Eastern Time (Miami, New York)

CEC/CEUS: AEA/AF/ATRI 1.5

Ruth Sova, MS, ATRIC, Ai Chi Master Trainer

This will be a great self-diagnostic tool for all people who are ambulatory … and it’s a great way to find, and attempt to help, health problems caused by poor gait mechanics. Balance compensations (helpful and unhelpful) will be addressed. We’ll use intertrial variability (introducing variables) during walking to improve brain/muscle entrainment. This will include walking pace, alignment, shoulder movement, eyes, swing phase and trunk glide. While we will focus on gait, these concepts can be used in most activities of daily function.

  • Review the foot tripod and foot rolling to begin gait reeducation
  • Consider other health issues and their impact on gait
  • Test compensatory patterns that actually assist with balance and those that don’t
  • Evaluate walking pace and variations that are included in daily function
